With Health Savings Accounts entering their sixth quarter, it is time to see how Americans are making out using this new approach to healthcare. Information Strategies, Inc. (ISI), the parent of www.hsafinder.com and www.2sbdigest.com, is currently conducting two special surveys aimed at gathering the opinions of HSA users. The first of these special surveys is open to all HSA users by clicking here. Families who have used HSAs for as short as three months and as long as a year have already answered this brief survey. Results will be posted sometime in May when respondent totals reach a statistically significant level. According to JoAnn Laing, ISI’s president, the results will be the first indication of whether HSAs can succeed in their role as healthcare cost reducer. “HSAs are important to the task of reducing soaring healthcare costs while expanding coverage,” she said. A harbinger of HSAs impact is the fact that in such states as New York, the cost of healthcare premiums is declining. These factors are not lost on the first respondents, many of whom reported significant declines in their healthcare premiums by choosing HSAs. Syndicated StudyMs. Laing also announced that ISI will conduct a syndicate research study of HSA user satisfaction this spring for publication in the fall. Participating companies will be asked to allow ISI to survey 500 of their clients regarding such factors as price/value, customer service, usefulness and delivery of services.
